The online ABYC Foundation Educator Forum provides a valuable platform for high school and post-secondary educators, as well as industry trainers and administrators of marine service technology programs, to connect, share challenges, explore available resources and discuss opportunities for students. Join your fellow Marine System Technology educators, along with ABYC staff and industry professionals to discuss what you're doing.

This event will be recorded so you can come and go as your schedule allows, but still have access to the entire conference discussion. Times are Eastern.

12:00pm

Industry Roundtable: Outboard Manufacturers

This is your chance to tell the major outboard manufacturers what you need, and listen to what they can offer. Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, and Honda will be ready for your feedback. Moderated by David Broadbent.

1:00pm

ABYC Curriculum Discussion

Bring your questions and your comments regarding the ABYC curriculum. ABYC Education Director Tim Murphy and Lead Instructor Mike Bonicker will be in the room and ready.

1:45pm

ABYC Educator of the Year Announcement

2:00pm

Marine Trades Accreditation Program (MTAP)

Are you considering the MTAP designation for your school? Join this discussion to talk to MTAP schools that take advantage of the resources available to them. If you're already an MTAP school, let ABYC know what you need.

2:30pm
The ABYC School Database

Join us as we roll out the results of surveys we sent to those who offer Marine Industry-specific training programs. This searchable database is the only one of its kind, allowing potential students (and their parents) seek out and compare programs across the country. If your school is not in the database, we’ll show you how to submit your school’s information free of charge.

3:00pm

Open Discussion with Educators

You answered the surveys and told us what you wanted. The number one reason schools that teach Marine Systems Technology join these forums is to talk to other schools. We'll open up the floor with some questions and you can talk amongst yourselves.

About the Educator Forums

The Educator Forum provides a valuable platform for high school and post-secondary educators, as well as administrators of marine service technology programs, to connect, share challenges, explore available resources, and discuss opportunities for students.

ABYC invites industry leaders who are passionate about marine workforce development to participate as speakers. These professionals can share insights about their businesses, the industry as a whole, and strategies for bringing qualified marine technicians into the field. Interested speakers are encouraged to submit a description of their proposed talking points by visiting www.abycinc.org/EducatorForumApplication.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for industry leaders to engage with educators who are shaping the next generation of marine professionals,” said Sarah Devlin, ABYC Accreditation Director. “By sharing their expertise and insights, industry leaders can influence the education and training of future marine technicians. This collaboration benefits students and helps businesses by fostering a workforce that is ready to contribute from day one.”
